The Google My Storytime Kit was a limited run packaging experience executed in partnership with Google Nest and the USO. 1,000 kits were handed out to active duty military families at Camp Pendleton during the USO’s 2019 Home for the Holidays event.
Many of these deployed moms and dads are gone for significant portions of their child’s young life. My Storytime helps them pre-record stories when they’re apart that are instantly available to play back at home through the Google Assistant.
Aruliden was tasked with designing the My Storytime unboxing experience, incorporating the Google Nest Mini and My Storytime technology. The end product was a packaging system that doubled as a keepsake box that could live on your shelf, disguised as a children’s book.
While its primary purpose is to deliver the Google Nest Mini and encourage the storyteller to use My Storytime, the packaging is filled with a series of design choices; from functional to experiential—each serving to build a connection to the story time experience and to one another.
