WHOOP is a 24/7 digital fitness and health coach that provides actionable sleep, recovery and training insights in real-time. WHOOP came to Aruliden with advanced technology that could better track key fitness metrics to take the guesswork out of training. Since 2013 we've worked with the WHOOP founding team to package this ground-breaking technology into a streamlined wearable, worn 24/7, that's changed how people live and train.

The next generation of WHOOP helps members monitor their recovery, sleep, training, and health, with personalized recommendations. 33% smaller than its predecessor, WHOOP 4.0 is built with a new sensor array and algorithms for greater accuracy and designed with new features to optimize human performance.

Aruliden’s updated design for the 4.0 unlocks the ability to position the hardware on multiple spots throughout the body, working in conjunction with WHOOP Body, a new line of enhanced technical garments. The added option of multiple data collection points expands wearability, allowing members to wear WHOOP 4.0 on either the wrist, arm, torso, waist, or calf. WHOOP Body, featuring Any-Wear Technology redefines what wearables can be, combining cutting-edge technology with high-end performance fabrics.

Visual Identity

Our work with WHOOP has spanned industrial design, brand positioning, identity design and development of the user interface. We set out to develop a compelling brand expression that would connect with athletes across every touchpoint of the consumer experience. Collaborating with Martin Oberhauser, the developer behind UI at WHOOP, we created an authoritative visual language that exuded the brand’s elite voice.

Our design choice to omit a screen with a user interface from the strap enabled the product to become something subdued, immovable, and unrecognizable as a fitness tracking device.
